HELLO BLOGOSPHERE,
Welcome to my page dedicated to the statistical analysis of the game of rugby.
This has been a passion project of mine over the past 6 years. I have discovered many insights into the game at both the amateur and professional levels and I hope to create a forum where I can share these findings and perhaps stimulate some meaningful discussion. Given the niche nature of the subject matter, this site is not intended to be widely read as it is to simply provide a novel perspective into the sport that I love.
While there are thousands of blogs out there dedicated to the analysis of various sports, only recently have there been guys like me who have decided to share their insights pertaining to rugby. I hope to bring a more “North American” style of analysis to this arena and collectively we can all increase awareness and understanding of the game through the use of data.
This is my first attempt at blogging – why start now? It’s a lot like the advice that Glen Frey (singer/guitarist for the Eagles), once got about songwriting from Bob Seger. At the time Seger was an established rock star and he told Frey that to make it in the music business he would have to write his own songs.
“What if they’re bad?” Frey asked
“Oh, of course they’re bad; just keep writing until they’re good” Seger told him
So here’s me throwing my hat into the ring. Hopefully you will join me on this journey and we can learn more about this wonderful game together!
